It is no secret. I use rose water & glycerin. I have been using it for years. Years ago I use to make my own cosmetics. I studied cosmetics, skin and hair care, extensively. There is no reason to spend tremendous amounts of money on skin care and hair care products. One can produce the most excellent products right from their very own kitchen.
I use to be able to buy rose water & glycerin from Walgreens however nowadays it seems to be harder to find. I buy it now from different sources on the internet. It is very inexpensive. Every skin type and everyone's preference is different. But for me rose water & glycerin has been very beneficial.

Juicing Pineapple & Apple

So instead of eating foods that want to kill me, I have been improving slowly but surely my daily diet. I use to be a health nut and juicer years ago and have gotten back into it because of some health issues. God heals. In prayer one day, believing that God has healed as He says in His word, He reminded me of my juicing days. So I tracked down my old juicer and brought it out of hibernation, dusted it off, plugged it in and wallah!, the experiments began. I praise the Lord for his reminder because juicing again has been beneficial.

Juicing has so many benefits! The fresh juices made from fresh fruits and vegies make you feel great, do great things for your skin, and give you energy. They are healing. One of my favorites is Pineapple. You can drink the pineapple straight or mix it. I especially like pineapple and apple.

Pineapple juice is so very beneficial. It is filled with nutrients. It has tons of Vit C. 8 ounces of pineapple juice provides 75% of our daily allowance of Vit C.

Lots of potassium too. As a side note, did you know that as we age our bodies deplete itself of potassium. Potassium does not replenish itself. One must get it from our diet. Pineapple juice gives one 20% of their daily allowance.

Pineapple juice also has thiamine, vit B6, manganese and magnesium.

I throw some fresh pineapple in the juicer along with an apple. The apple gives it sort of a creamy look. It looks great serving to guests with a little garnish on top such as a strawberry, a pineapple wedge or a sprig of mint leaves.

Happy juicing!

Primitive Journals (See Post Below)

These are a new item. As you can see they are a delight!

When I learned that I would be a grandma for the first time, I admit, it sent me into a little depression! Me a grandma? Why I was way too young. I remember my grandmas. They had white hair, had lots of wrinkles and wore grandma dresses. Was this me already, as I studied my image in the mirror. Why I felt like I was still 18! Where did my life go? Was it over already?

Another grandma told me to wait until the little bundle was born and I would find that being a grandma would be a great joy. She said afterall you are "young"... "Young"!? That was music to my ears! Oh thank you o wise lady! This wise grandma said that I will be able to run with them, jump with them, get down on the floor and play with them. Hmmm, my grandmas never were able to do that with me.

Upon thinking this over, I started to think this might be sort of great after all. It has been quite a while since a little one was running around.

Well 4 grand babies all under the age of 5, later....I have to say I am having the time of my life. These babies are so much fun. And it is true. I can run, jump and play all sorts of games with them. Not too long ago I babysat 2 of them for a few hours. I ran around the house playing hide and seek, chase and monster with them for 3 straight hours without stopping. I have to say though I did sort of fall into bed later that night. These babies are little bright lights of joy in my life.

Besides the fun, I also realize the responsiblity of being grandma. To always be there for them. To pray for each one of them. Having grandchildren makes you realize how accountable and what a good example I am to be for them.

There is a special bond between grandparent and grandchild. Their love for grandparent is so honest, refreshing and so unconditional. The best part is feeling their little hands in yours or feeling their little arms around your neck.

Noah, he is my little preacher man. Brady loves all things magical. Cassidy is a princess disguised as a tom boy. Little Ainsley is filledwith happiness and laughter.
I sure do love them!

My Greatest Achievement

Someone asked, what are your greatest achievements? Loving and serving the Lord is my greatest achievement. Without Him, I would be nothing. He is my only source to all things.

The other thing that comes to mind is that of my three children. It was a joy being a mom to them. I wish I had more but it was not meant to be with the lose of two babies. I savored every minute that my children were growing up. There was always something happening, places to go, baking to do, schedules to keep, homework and project help, the laundry, the little leagues games, the swim clubs....so much! I never wanted it to end. But of course I knew one day it would. At first that day seemed way in the distant future but before you know it, the future is the present. I hear many young mothers who are bogged down, abiding their time for when their children are grown and gone. I want to warn them, it happens sooner than later, and then suddenly it is a little too quiet. Oh, I have my dog now though, who is now my baby!

I am proud of my kids. They each have an education, none like the other. The scripture says in Proverbs 22 to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. This means to know where your childrens talents and gifts lie and gently encourage them in that direction. I did my best to prepare and equip each child with what they would need to be out on their own. So far it seems they are doing pretty good. Each one has a productive life and most importantly to me, is that each one loves the Lord with all their heart and are followers of Him. This is the greatest achievement of all. I know the Lord will one day say to me, well done.

Fresh Snow

After a very mild winter with barely any snow, I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning.
While I was pleased with the season of no snow, I had forgotten how beautiful a real Wisconsin snow fall can be. The roads were great to drive, not like the other 2 times when we had barely any snow, but treacherous icy roads. One where I narrowly missed being hit by a speeding out of control car, the 2nd where I made a left hand turn but lost all control of my car whereas I kept sliding on the ice. Fortunately I avoided hitting anyone else. I came to a stop in the middle of the road, avoiding going into the ditch, but pointed in the opposite direction. God had his protective hand on me both times! This today, was a beautiful snowfall!

Galena, Ill

A great place to visit.

Galena Illinois

Going over the border into Galena Illinois makes for a fun a beautiful getaway. The town has a lot of history, old victorian homes, cliffs and hills. I call it the Eureka Springs of the north. Lots of shops, unique restaurants, bakeries and great places to stay. During this time, "many of the Indians coming...
amongst the rest their great king Massasoit, with some ninety
men."
The
Pilgrims did not call this harvest festival a "Thanksgiving," although they did
give thanks to God. Strive to
be exceptional not average. Abraham Lincoln said, ” I do the very best I know
how – the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end.” Booker
T Washington quoted, “Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way.”

The scriptures tell us to “press
toward the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 3:14.
Matthew 5:48 says Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in
heaven is perfect. Perfect meaning to obtain excellence.

Here at the Apple Barrel I
feel our products are on the level of excellence. Everything is made by hand.
When I receive an idea, I mull it over for awhile thinking and deciding the best
process of it. When I put my hand to work, I work and rework until I feel it is
at it’s utmost perfection and quality.

This week I have added a few
new items. In the Pantry category I have added blackened beeswax sheep bowl
filler. These sheep are made out of antique molds and hand painted.

Also I have added a Christmas
version sheep bowl filler which are found in the Christmas category.

Back to the Pantry category I
have added Blackened Beeswax Busts of George Washington and flag bowl filler.
These were made from a rare antique mold and hand painted. All of these new bowl
fillers are delicious in cinnamon fragrance so perfect for your fall and winter
holidays.

I have added a new category,
Greeting Cards. The first addition to this category is a set of 8 Early
President Notecards. Check them out on my website! They are awesome!
<c>
http://www.applebarrelprimitives.com

This Week At The Apple Barrel

October 12, 2011

This week has been the most beautiful week as far as weather. It has been sunny blue skies each day and warm The fall colors are awesome. I love the sound of the falling leaves. My street of trees is fantastic in rich vibrant autumn colors. I am so inspired by God’s beauty.

Here at the Apple Barrel we are hard at work. Did you know that hard work is good for the soul? It is. Look at what Proverbs has to say, 13:4 “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”

Our early Presidents seemed to agree with Proverbs. John Quincy Adams said that “idleness is sweet, and it’s consequences are cruel.”

Thomas Jefferson had it right, “Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.”

This is so true. It is amazing how much a person can get done when you put your mind to it.

We have put our mind to several things here at the Apple Barrel. We have added a new category, “Stationary”. In it we have packets of bundled reproduction parchment stationary wrapped in twine with a beeswax bust of George Washington made with a nice scent of cinnamon apple. Also new are bundles of stationary featuring my original paintings. I will be adding to the selection in the coming days. I am in the process of developing some neat looking greeting cards. They will be available within the next 2 weeks.

Happy Oct 1st!

Happy Oct. 1st. Cannot believe
October is already upon us! Here at the Apple Barrel, it is that time of year
when I must tackle some jobs and then find the time to do so. I started out the
day quite early washing and putting an application on my wood kitchen floor. Oh
my it does look beautiful. I could not help but think as I was doing it and then
looking at the end result how God loves us so much that he forgives us when we
ask Him to do so and how he makes the slate clean. To Him it must look sort of
like my kitchen floor, so shiny, so clean and totally beautiful. Perhaps that is
a simplistic way of looking at it but to me, it works.

We has a whole week of rain, rain,
rain and very cool weather. This coming week it is suppose to warm up quite a
bit. Great for tackling the carpets, lol. Gotta love that fall cleaning! I kind
of do. When everything is fresh and clean, it smells so good in the
house.

I have added quite a few new products
and have added a new category, The Pantry. I will be adding more so keep
checking back. I am working on some very neat things. You never know, one may
call out your name!

http://www.applebarrelprimitives.com

Welcome

October 1, 2011
Welcome to my blog.
